Acute respiratory infections are common conditions that generally show minor symptoms, but depending on the patient's condition, can also cause severe respiratory problems that require hospitalization. Although bacterial respiratory infections occur less frequently than viral infections, heuristic antibiotic therapy is often used for treatment, so rapid identification in the early stages of the disease is important.
Intended Use
The NamuPlex™ Viral Respiratory Real-time PCR Kit is a multiplex real-time PCR assay designed for the qualitative detection and differentiation of 19 respiratory pathogens, including 16 viruses, and 3 Influenza A subtypes. Performed on a real-time PCR instrument, this assay extracts nucleic acid (DNA or RNA) from nasopharyngeal swabs of patients suspected of respiratory infections.
